Henna Tattoo Kits

Body art has been around for centuries. Many people choose to express their beliefs, interests and creativity on their body. Although tattoos are one of the most popular choices for body art, its permanency is a drawback. However since the Bronze Era, people have been using temporary henna tattoos as a natural alternative to ink.
Henna is a flowering plant that grows on tall shrubs native to areas of Africa, Asia and Australia. However, its popularity has led to commercial cultivation of henna in India, Iran, Libya, Morocco, Pakistan, Sudan and Yemen.
Traditionally, the henna is made into a paste that is then applied directly to the skin. Sometimes, sugar or lemon juice are added to slow the cracking process. The henna paste can stay on the skin for up to 8 hours—during which it can begin to crack and fall off. Hands and feet are common body parts to apply henna tattoos because the color absorbs well on porous skin and does not fade as easily. The final result is an intricate reddish brown stain.
Although henna is currently illegal in the U.S., it is regulated very leniently and many people choose to apply their own henna tattoos using henna tattoo kits. Henna Mehndi is an online store that offers henna supplies and henna tattoo kits for people to try at home. In addition to henna tattoo kits, Henna Mehndi offers supplies, stencils and other henna tattoo accessories. All of the following kits can be found online at www.hennamehndi.com.
Henna tattoo kits that include premade henna paste are the easiest to work with. The Henna Tube Paste Kit (Lite) is a good option for beginners. It comes with enough premade, natural henna paste to make up to 30 tattoos. It includes henna oil and application tools such as nozzles and gloves. The kit contains two sticker stencils, and the three plastic stencils included in the kit can be reused. This kit along with directions and a handcrafted box is only $4.50.
There are also henna tattoo kits that are more elaborate and include more materials—even enough for a party. The Henna Tube Paste Kit (Color) is a great example. It comes with 10 tubes of henna paste in a variety of colors such as black, green, red and yellow. It contains similar application tools as the previous kit, however this kit has 10 plastic stencils, 10 sticker tattoos and a sheet of glitter transfer sheets. A design book gives henna tattoo ideas and the whole kit costs $52.00.
Some people prefer an even more hands-on approach when choosing henna tattoo kits. Some henna tattoo kits allow users to actually mix the henna paste themselves. The Henna Powder Kit (Lite) does just that. It comes with 50 grams of natural henna powder as well as henna oil. Herbs and roots help to darken the henna stain. Gloves and a cotton swab aid in application and and the henna paste can be mixed up in the mixing bowl with the spatula that comes included. Plastic, reusable stencils and sticker tattoos also come with the kit. All of these supplies cost only $20.
A more advanced version of the Henna Powder Kit (Lite) is the Henna Powder Kit (Pro). The major difference is that it comes with greater amounts of the above supplies. For example, instead of 50 grams of natural henna powder, this kit comes with 250 grams. The rest of supplies are about the same as the other kits. An Art of Mehndi book is also included.. Like the amount of supplies, the price tag is also higher. The Henna Powder Kit (Pro) costs a hefty $42.40.
Henna tattoo kits are an ideal option for people who are feeling adventurous enough to try applying their own body art. There are henna tattoo kits available for people with multiple skill and involvement levels. Regardless, henna tattoo kits usually contain enough supplies to get a feel for different henna tattoo designs. Rather than piercing or tattooing, henna tattoo kits are a safer alternative for trying  body art at home.
